Enjoy a weekend of inspiring music-making with professional coaches for your chamber ensemble in the Cascade foothills just outside of Leavenworth, WA, a 2-3 hour drive from Seattle.  The Icicle Creek Center for the Arts is a picturesque retreat with performance hall, practice huts and cabins.  For this popular event, each ensemble chooses its own music selection and works together through the weekend coaching sessions, culminating in a final participant performance on Sunday afternoon.   Registration for pre-formed ensembles is preferred, but there are often opportunities to place individual performers as well.

Please note that piano ensembles need to be fully registered for consideration.

The 8th annual Chamber Music Retreat will be held September 20-23, 2018. Camp starts Thursday evening with a reception and socializing, initial rehearsal without coach, followed by informal ad-hoc playing. Intensive coaching begins Friday AM and continues through Sunday morning, culminating in a Participants Performance Sunday afternoon before departure.   Saturday evening, the faculty will present a program of music, always a thrilling highlight of the weekend. This concert is open to the public with donation requested from non-participants.   The Participants Performance is complimentary and family and friends are welcome.

Icicle-Creek-BuildingThis retreat is for adult violin, viola, cello and piano players of intermediate to advanced ability. The Fee includes tuition, meals, and admission to the faculty chamber music performance and reception Saturday evening.  Housing is available on a limited basis in the 3-person or 4-person modern cabins on campus, and at local B&Bs, home rentals and motels in downtown Leavenworth and the Icicle Creek area.

“Over the years I have attended a variety of amateur chamber music programs, east and west. In some ways, this is my favorite. I know there is a big summer program in Washington state, with hundreds attending. But I could not feel happy in a crowd that large. For number of participants, Icicle Creek seems ideal to me.”
